Painted Turtle Gallery, Painting on Location

"I feel that my subjects choose me rather than my choosing them... it's like a seed planted in my mind that develops gradually until the painting takes form."  -David Band

I started this piece while painting on location at the
Painted Turtle Gallery, on Saturday, May 22nd.

Quince Blossoms and Apples.....

Well it's overcast and raining I will spend some time in my studio and hopefully finish or come close to finishing this piece.  Stay tuned...

Pears Rock-on exhibit at the Chamber of Commerce, Creston

"A painting doesn't have to have a profound meaning. It doesn't have to 'say' a word. We fall in love for simpler reasons."  -Harley Brown

ART SHOW: Local People, Local Places
May 10th - June 14th, 2010
Chamber Of Commerce, Creston, BC

Opening Reception:
Saturday, May 22 from 2-3pm
Chamber Of Commerce
All Artists will be in attendance

Title: "Pears Rock"
Medium: Watercolor, UV Varnished   Retail: $200.00

About the painting:
The blossoms came from the pear tree in my own yard, just around Blossom Festival time last year.  Most often the title for my paintings comes last.  In this case, I had the title in my head, so my husband & I went searching for the perfect rock to accompany the blossoms & pears.  We found this one while driving around the Dodge Creek area.  It caught my attention, as it sparkled, while the sunlight danced across it.  Upon closer inspection, I decided it was perfect.

Enjoy your day,
Laura Leeder

On The Easel - Developing Peony's with Limes, Still life

"If good things come to those who wait, I figure I ought to be in for a big payoff someday soon!"   -Brian Lee Jones

It's been a very busy few weeks, and I've only just had an opportunity to work on this painting today.  I've added more glazes to the back flowers and have started adding color to the center flower.  Added some lite value glazes to the cloth where it falls over the table edge.  Building value on the limes and working a bit more on the leaves.
Hopefully, I will be able to get back to this one over the weekend.
Until then,
